Mrs. Lillis Houck Gentry, age 99, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday morning, October 20, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Owen Peeler officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Friday, October 22, 2010 one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Gentry was born in Ashe County on Monday, July 31, 1911 to the late Arthur and Myrtle Edwards Houck. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, of 72 years of marriage, Worth Gentry; a son, Tim Gentry, of Blowing Rock; a daughter, Suzanne Lewis and husband, Bryce, of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Pam Payne and husband, Marc, of West Jefferson and Jeff Lewis, of West Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Coleman Payne, Bryson Payne and Blake Lewis; several nieces and nephews also survive.
