Hugh McCoy, age 94, of Creston, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:30PM at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Rev. Kirby Herman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30- 2:30pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. McCoy was born in Ashe County on Thursday, June 8, 1916 to the late Quincy and Emma Pennington McCoy. He was a logger in the Timber Industry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. McCoy and Ray McCoy; a sister, Gail Price. Mr. McCoy is survived by his wife, Emma Osborne McCoy, of Creston; two daughters, Nancy Barker and husband, Gairl, of Creston and Kay Richardson and husband, John, of Mountain City, TN; four sisters, Joann Owens and husband, Jay, of Creston, Ester Taylor and husband, Paul, of West Jefferson, Ruby Weaver of West Jefferson and Myrtle Ruth Porter, of Amanda, OH; two grandchildren, Sandy Richardson of Gastonia, NC and Timothy Hugh Barker, of Woodside, NY; several nieces and nephews.
