Mrs. Ruby Carrington Wilcox Hudler, age 95, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 2010 at Segraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Morris, Rev. Michael Lea and Rev. Kirk McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Hudler was born in Ashe County on Sunday, January 24, 1915 to the late Augustus and Mary Phillips Wilcox. She owned and operated the cafeteria at Sprague Electric for 18 years. She was a member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church, where she participated in United Methodist Women. She also volunteered with Ashe Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Winfield Hudler; a son, Bobby Lee Hudler; a brother, Austin Wilcox; a sister, Estella Ham. She is survived by two sons, Allan Hudler and wife, Mary, of Wilkesboro and Ted Hudler and wife, Sharon, of Lumberton; two daughters, Elizabeth "Lib" Bare and husband, Herbert, of West Jefferson and Patricia "Pat" McNeill and husband, Bradley, of West Jefferson; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a great, great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews also survive.
