Mr. John J. Miller, age 80, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, December 23, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Claude Mash Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, July 11, 1930 to the late John Ander and Mary Ann Miller. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a member of Round Knob Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Miller; a son , John Franklin Miller and Fiance Kathy Garner, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Becky Snyder and husband, Michael, of Millers Creek; two brothers, Clint Miller, of West Jefferson and Shade Miller, of Jefferson; two sisters, Goldie Miller and husband, Britt, of West Jefferson and Ada Polk and husband, Charles, of Mocksville; a granddaughter, Marlena Bowlin and husband, Derrick, of Charlotte; several nieces and nephews also survive.
