Obituary of Edgar Worth Shepherd
Edgar Worth Shepherd of Laurel Springs, NC, passed away on December 26, 2010 at his home. He was born in the Scottsville area of Ashe County on September 29, 1906 to the late Edwin Bryant and Nora Long Shepherd.
Mr. Shepherd retired from Cyclone Fence Company in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Sedona, Arizona where he lived with his wife, Lucille, for more than thirty years. He returned to North Carolina in 2000, were he resided with his niece until his death.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Lucille Place, brothers, Arch Shepherd and George Shepherd and one sister, Mabel Shepherd Johnson. He is survived by a step-daughter, Sallie Blevins of Lansing, NC. He is also survived by his niece, Sally Shepherd Dickens and husband, Jarvis Dickens, with whom he made his home for the past eleven years. Uncle Worth was loved by four generations of surviving nieces and nephews and by his step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bellview Baptist Church with the Reverend Art Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Cranberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Bellview Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Ashe County, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
