Mr. Van Daniel Cox, age 68, of Burlington, formerly of Ashe County passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Casey officiating. Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. Mr. Cox was born in Ashe County on August 20, 1942 to the late John Cox and Goldie Miller Cox. He worked in a Textile Mfg. Company. He loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diane DePree Cox and a brother Walt Cox. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Cox and Lori Cox, both of Burlington, NC; his mother & step father, Goldie and Britt Miller, of West Jefferson; five brothers, Ander Cox and wife, Martha, of West Jefferson, Jessie Ray Miller, of West Jefferson, Dean Miller, of West Jefferson, Lloyd Miller and wife, Nancy, of West Jefferson and Mark Miller and wife, Pam, of Jefferson; six sisters, Edith Clark and husband, Goss, of West Jefferson, Frances Cozart and husband, Sheldon, of West Jefferson, Violet Roten and husband, Clint, of West Jefferson, Shelby Casey, of West Jefferson, Debbie McClure and husband, Mike, of Jefferson and Vickie Barker of West Jefferson; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
