Stewart (Buddy) Hodges, age 74, of West Jefferson, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson, NC. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Hamby and Rev. Ken Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Friday from 12:00-1:00pm, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Hodges was born in Watauga County on Sunday, July, 19, 1936 to the late Stewart Grant and Bessie Alice Hodges. He served in the United States Army. Later, he owned Hodge's Cleaners in West Jefferson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hodges. He is survived by his wife June Miller Hodges; a step-daughter, Penny Greer and husband Earnie, of Jefferson; two sisters, Betty Smith and husband Bill, of Lenoir, Joyce Frye, of Lenoir; several nieces and nephews.
