Mrs. Viola Cole Wilcox Woods, age 75, of Todd, the Laurel Knob Community, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 15, 2011 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.D. Walton and Elder Anion Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilcox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Woods was born in Grayson County, Virginia on Saturday, June 15, 1935 to the late Denny and Lilly Pennington Cole. She was a Homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Wilcox; a son, Roger Wilcox; a brother, Junior Cole. She is survived by two sons, Buster Wilcox and wife, Wanda, of Lansing and Joe Wilcox and wife, Kim, of Lansing; two daughters, Beth Seymour and husband, Tom, of Jefferson and Wilma Houck and husband, Jerry, of Todd; a special friend, Charles Ruland, of West Jefferson; two brothers, Elder Anion Cole and wife, Clyde, of Lansing and Milt Cole and wife, Nellie, of Bakersville, NC; one sister, Betty Quessenbury and husband, Frank, of West Jefferson; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a great, great- grandchild; a caregiver, Allison Holman, of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
