Mrs. Mary Alice Billings Bare, age 69, of Jefferson, passed away Monday morning, January 24, 2011 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm on Thursday, January 27, 2011at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Roan's Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Bare was born in Grayson County, Virginia on Thursday, October 2, 1941 to the late Robert Estel and Zollie Wiles Billings. She was a Homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Bare; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Bare Severt; a son, Johnny Bare; brothers, John Billings, Bob Billings, James Billings and Roger Billings. She is survived by two sons, Steve Bare and wife, Brenda, of Jefferson and Duane Bare and wife, Tammy, of Jefferson; a daughter, Mary McCraw, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Bill Billings and wife, Carol, of Sparta, David Billings, of West Jefferson and Roy Billings and wife, Diane, of Lansing; two sisters, Mildred Billings, of Lansing and Wanda Hardin and husband, Tom, of West Jefferson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
