Ms. Janet Hammons Dancy, better known as "Jan" age 53, of Creston passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00pm, one hour prior to the memorial service. Ms. Dancy was born in Ashe County on August 27, 1957 to the late Wade Thomas and Doris Joines Hammons. Janet worked for Hanes as a sewing machine operator for 17 years until the closing of the plant. She enjoyed working in her flower garden. She is survived by a son, Jake Dancy, of West Jefferson; a brother, Harold Hammons and wife, Doris, of West Jefferson; a sister, Susan Brooks and husband Dwight, of Warrensville; a niece, Mitzi Trivett and husband Trent; a great niece, Jadyn Trivett; a great nephew, Tayvn Trivett; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
