Mr. Hubert Franklin Mash, age 76, of Fleetwood, passed away Tuesday morning, February 22, 2011 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Guy Testerman and Rev. Allen Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00pm one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Mash was born in Ashe County on June 22, 1934 to the late Paul and Roye Hurley Mash. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He mowed the church cemetery and cleaned the church for several years. He had a great dedication to the church. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Sheets Mash: a son, Tony Mash and wife, Robin, of Fleetwood; two brothers, Earl F. Mash, of West Jefferson, Conard Mash, of West Jefferson; four sisters Reba Bare, of West Jefferson, Wanda Swaim, of Hamptonville, NC, Barbara Baldwin, of West Jefferson and Leona Shaver, of Laurel Springs, NC; a grandchild Scott Mash and wife, Amy, of Fleetwood; a great-grandchild, Brent Mash, of Fleetwood; two step grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
