Mr. Robert Lee Jenkins, better known as "Bob" age 72, of Lansing passed away Monday morning, February 28, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Lenoir. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with military rites with Rev. Jeff Nave and Rev. Russell Hart officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, Florida. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the memorial service. Mr. Jenkins was born in Caldwell County on Saturday, March 19, 1938 to the late John H. and Nell Prestwood Jenkins. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service. Later he worked as a manufacturing manager, 13 years at Storage Technology in Palm Bay, Florida. Prior to his retirement he worked at the West Jefferson Post Office. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Harless Jenkins, of the home; a son, Michael Jenkins, of Cocoa Beach, Florida; two daughters, Sandra Hanson, of Peru, Indiana and Robin Bryant, of Melbourne, Florida; two step sons, Steve Hart, of West Jefferson and Russell Hart, of Jefferson; a step daughter, Jill Phipps, of Crumpler; a brother, Roger Jenkins, of Valdese, NC; a sister, Carol Gragg, of Lenoir; four grandchildren Daniel Bryant, of Florida, Kenneth Hanson, Keith Hanson and Chrissy Hanson, all of Indiana; eight great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one niece and one nephew also survive.
