Jack Leon Pennington, age 50, of West Jefferson passed away Monday morning, March 7, 2011 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A Graveside service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 3pm at the Gilley Cemetery in Warrensville with Rev. Ambrose Jones and Rev. Kirby McNeill officiating. Mr. Pennington was born in Ashe County to the late Halford Joseph and Mary Ward Pennington. He was an Automotive Mechanic. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Pennington; three brothers, JC Pennington, Robert Pennington and Dean Pennington; two sisters, Lois Ann Wyatt and Norma Denny. Mr. Pennington is survived by a son, Shane Pennington, of Rochester, NY; a daughter, Showna Pennington, of Walkertown, NC; four sisters, Jodie Pennington, of West Jefferson, Gail Turnmire and husband, Jim, of West Jefferson, Cleo Jones, of Lansing and Christina Brown and husband, Ray, of West Grove, Pennsylvania; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews also survive.
