Mr. William Harold Smith, better known as "Harold, age 72, of West Jefferson, the Bald Mountain Community, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Terry Rainey and Rev. John Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Smith was born in Georgia on Wednesday, August 17,1938 to the late Ralph and Ruth Gleaton Smith. He had his own construction business. He was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. He loved to work, that was his hobby. He also had two cats that were his working buddies, Reebok and Boo. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Danner Smith; a son, Shane Smith, of Jefferson; a daughter, Pam Miller and husband, Jeff, of West Jefferson; a sister, Christine Jarrett, of Stockbridge, Georgia; three grandchildren Noelle Miller, Caleb Miller and Shayla Miller; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
