Mrs. Georgia Faye Lewis Shepherd, age 68, of West Jefferson passed away Monday night, March 14, 2011 at her home. A private graveside service will be held. Mrs. Shepherd was born in Ashe County on May 23, 1942 to the late Emmett Hester and Sally Faye Taylor Lewis. She retired from Leviton Manufacturing Company. She was also preceded by her husband, Dewey Elmer Shepherd; a brother, John Preston Lewis and a sister, Louise Howell. Mrs. Shepherd is survived by two sons, Terry Shepherd and wife, Elizabeth, of Smithfield, VA and Curtis Shepherd and wife, Sheri, of West Jefferson; a brother, Emmett Lewis, of West Jefferson; a sister, Della Mae Stansberry, of Frederick, Maryland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
