Greensboro - Juanita Blevins Barr, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Countryside Manor Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home with service to follow at the Boone Family Chapel in West Jefferson, NC. Interment will follow in Ashe Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Barr was born on September 27, 1923 in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Luther Christopher and Sadie Sturgill Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Fred M. Barr; one sister, Virginia Blevins and a brother, Morris Blevins. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Bagley and husband Michael of Greensboro; one grandson, Josh Bagley of Charlotte, one sister, Nora Lou Mokry of Mooresville and several loving nieces and nephews. After working briefly in Washington, D.C. and Charlotte, N.C., she took on the role of homemaker. Mrs. Barr was a devoted wife and mother. Family was the center of her life and she was happiest when surrounded by her relatives, especially her grandson, Josh. Her door was always open and there was always room for one more at her dinner table. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking desserts, especially birthday cakes. The family wishes to thank the staff of Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Stokesdale, NC for their compassionate care.
