Mr. Eric Hopkins, age 36, of Mountain City, formerly of Ashe County died Saturday morning, March 19, 2011 at Johnson City Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Jack Pugh and Rev. Rector Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Monday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Hopkins was born in Ashe County on Monday, June 17, 1974 to Raymond and Ester Holman Hopkins. He was an employed with Food Lion Food Stores as a Market Manager. Eric had a love for his family, nature and the outdoors. He loved to camp and fish. He is survived by his wife, Christina; two sons, Avery and Dustin; a daughter, Iris Hopkins; his parents, Raymond and Ester Hopkins of West Jefferson; four sisters, Debbie Lambert and husband Anthony, of Crumpler, Vivian Goodman and husband Dave, of West Jefferson, Tina Greer and husband, Randy, of Purlear, NC and Teresa Welch and husband, Danny, of Warrensville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
