Mrs. Raychella Jane Sheets Bennett, age 72, of Jefferson passed away Sunday night, March 20, 2011 at Carolina Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Colvard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Bennett was born in Ashe County on Thursday, November 10, 1938 to the late Walter and Nettie Burkett Sheets. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957, later married Gale Bennett on December 29, 1964. She retired from Leviton Mfg. Company. She was an avid reader. Raychella was a very caring person and was always thinking of others. She would send cards on birthdays, holidays and special occasions. But most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Sheets and Willard Sheets. Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband, Gale Bennett; a daughter, Stephanie Bennett Hawkins and husband, Eric, of Raleigh; three sisters, Willeen Fortner, and husband, Abner, of Jefferson; Marguerite Bare, and husband, John, of New London, PA and Beverly Waddell, and husband, Bill, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Douglas Sheets, and wife, Shirley, of Jefferson, Donald Sheets, and wife, Shirley, of Jefferson and Frank Sheets, and wife, Barbara, of Jefferson; two granddaughters Taylor Caroline Hawkins and Riley Jane Hawkins; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
