Mrs. Bonnie Black Viers, age 88, of Laurel Springs, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2011 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Peak Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Viers was born on Tuesday, March 13, 1923 to the late David and Lucy Sheets Black. She retired from Jefferson Apparrel, where she was a sewing machine operator. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Presley Alexander Viers; five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by a son, James Viers and wife, Louise, of Laurel Springs; a brother, Harold Black and wife, Edith, of Laurel Springs; a sister, Raye Day, of Jefferson; three granddaughters, Angie Barker and husband, Billy, Brenda Shepherd and husband, Keith and Terri Viers; five great-grandchildren, Allen Barker and wife, Jessica, Amanda Bare and husband, Jonathan, Brandy Barker, Schae Viers and Alexis Taylor; three great, great grandchildren, Kylee Calhoun, Dalton Barker and Kadance Barker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
