Mrs. Algene (Jean) Morgan Davis Rogers, age 89, of West Jefferson passed away on Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Martha Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Rogers was born in Ashe County on Thursday, October 9, 1919 to the late Jesse Marion and Cora Alice Bare Morgan. She was an active member of the Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church in West Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles P. (Charlie) Davis and one daughter, Kay Lillian Davis. She is survived by her husband, Gaines Rogers; one son, James M. Davis and wife, Jeanie, of Independence, VA; one daughter, Charlene Phillips and husband, Ralph, of West Jefferson; two step daughters, Ceta Pickett and husband, Gary, of Cookeville, TN and Lisa Killough and husband, Barry, of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Hartzog, of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to High Country Health Care Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640. The family will be meeting at the home of Ralph and Charlene Phillips at 2477 Mt. Jefferson Road in West Jefferson.
