Lanny and Betty and all of the Ballou family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of loss of Reverend Bill. We had great respect for him through the years of knowing him as a pastor. He was always a very soft spoken and caring person. No one could sing "Beulah Land" like Rev. Bill. Barbara and I knew he was the preacher we wanted to marry us and we shall never forget that occasion. Again we send our condolences to all.

Opal and Family:
I am so sorry to learn of Brother Bill's passing. He was a wonderful person and truly lived what he preached. Growing up on the Deep Ford Road with Sylvia, Shelia, Larry and Lanney I come to love all of you and have so many good memories.
I remember the evening when Bill announced his call to the ministry at Oak Hill Baptist Church and thinking what a wonderful person God had working in his vineyard. What a blessing he has been to so many. I can just hear him singing "Come Spring". Heaven has a new voice in its choir.
I never eat a potato that I don't remember him telling about the time he was a POW and how he learned to eat the skin of the potato instead of peeling it away with his teeth. I am so glad that God brought him home to become the wonderful minister that we all knew so well. He will be missed.
God Bless all of you.

Opal and family,
I was sadden to learn of Bill's passing. I imagine he is strolling over heaven with a lot of friends and family. When he and my mom sang together, there were so many blessings from their singing.
The two songs that I remember the most were "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven and Come
Spring." Forty years ago, he
made us a couple and we are still one. He was good at tying "knots". May God be with each of you in the coming days. Each of you will be in my prayers and I am thankful to have known "Brother Bill."

Your father was a very special man. He spoke at the first funeral I ever attended. I was in the 8th grade and had lost my best friend to leukemia. His words gave me peace and comfort. I still can hear those words of comfort today. As I grew older I realized how blessed we were to have such a Godly man in our community. I learned so much from him. He will be missed

Opal and family,
Bill was a wonderful man and a great inspiration to us all. When we heard of his passing Randy said I know for a fact where that man is. God's light was seen through all Bill did through life. What wonderful memories that Randy shares of growing up with the family and all the good times you all shared. Bill will be missed but I know we will see him again soon in Glory.

To Bill's Family and Opal:
Many people touch our lives thru time. Bill Ballou touched mine in so many ways. You could always count on Bill. Even our Baptist State Convention workers said, " if you want a crowd to gather, tell Bill Ballou" and a crowd would always fill the place. Our prayers are with you as a family and I'm jealous because he got to heaven first...Ervel and Jan Jones. Statesville, N.C.

Ms. Opal & Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of loss. "Preacher Bill" was such an inspiration to everyone he met; he has touched so many lives in Ashe County and all the surrounding areas. Not often can one find someone with so many gifts of the spirit, but God richly blessed his life. I loved all of the songs he sang, and it is hard to pick a favorite. Yet knowing that he is in "Beulah Land" and "Strolling Over Heaven" is a comfort for us, as I know that it is for you.

Sylvia, Shelia and all the Ballou family. My sincerest sympathies are being sent to you today. I just learned of your loss and wanted to say how sorry I am. Rev. Ballou was a kind and gentle person each time I encountered him years ago when Sylvia, Shelia and I would "come home" from Winston-Salem while we were in school. He will be missed by your family, but never out of your hearts. That is where all the good memories are stored.
