Mrs. Elizabeth May Slocum Rogers, age 86, of West Jefferson, passed away Friday morning, July 1, 2011 at Ashe Senior Village. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:30am at Church of the Nazarene on Roberts Street in West Jefferson with Rev. Mark Wiest officiating. Fellowship will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:30am on Thursday, prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Rogers was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on August 2, 1924 to the late Emmons and Laura May Haskell Slocum. She retired from Sears. She is survived by four daughters, JoAnne Bondy and husband, Lee, of Grassy Creek, Jane Heyward, of West Jefferson, Mary Kay Rogers, of West Jefferson and Robin Rogers, of West Jefferson; a brother, Donald Slocum and wife, Jeanette, of Dennis, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews also survive.
