Mr. Ardle Darnell, age 95, of Laurel Springs passed away Saturday morning, November 29, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Monday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Darnell was born in Ashe County on Friday, July 4, 1913 to the late Lundy Darnell and Alice Jones Darnell. He was an Agricultural Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cordie Woodie Darnell on August 15, 2005. He is survived by five sons, George "Bill" Darnell and wife, Barbara of Wilkesboro, Roger Darnell and wife, Carolyn, of Wilkesboro, Ardle Darnell, Jr. (Rocky) and wife, Pat, of Millers Creek, Gary Darnell and wife June, of Wilkesboro, JD Darnell and wife, Andrea, of West Jefferson; four daughters, Mildred Bowlin and husband, George, of Laurel Springs, Joyce Pruitt and husband, Jerry, of Laurel Springs, Peggy Hart and husband, Paul, of Laurel Springs, Linda Barker and husband, Junior, of Jefferson; a sister, Betty Darnell Severt of West Jefferson; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
