Mr. Thomas Christopher Severt, better known as "Chris" age 38, of Glendale Springs passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2:00pm at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Reynolds and Rev. Sonny Thomas officiating. The body will lie in state one prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 6:00-9:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Chris was born in Ashe County on Monday, January 22, 1973 to Thomas James and Wilma Sue Hess Severt. He worked with his father at Severt's Heating & Air. In his spare time, he loved to work with gadgets. He was known for his patience and for his big heart. Chris will be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Gladys Hess and his paternal grandparents, Bryce and Missouri Severt. He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Severt, of Morganton, NC; his parents, Tom and Sue Severt, of Glendale Springs; a sister, Pam Barker and husband, Mitchell, of Glendale Springs; a niece, Hannah Barker and two nephews, Joshua Barker and Wesley Barker also survive.
