Mrs. Lessie Miller Church, age 90, of Crumpler passed away Thursday morning, July 14, 2011 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. Jim Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Church was born in Ashe County on Thursday, July 29, 1920 to the late Carl and Minnie Sexton Miller. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. When her family was at home, she enjoyed cooking for them, she never wanted anyone to leave hungry. Later in life, she enjoyed sitting and rocking her baby and singing to it. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Breece Church; two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a son, Don Church and wife, Ruby, of Warrensville; three daughters, Thelma Church, of Crumpler, Ruth Eldreth, of Jefferson and Pauline Powers, of Lansing; a sister, Mary Osborne of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted! The family will receive friends at the homeplace at 214 Greensboro Road in Crumpler.
