Juanita Stevens Stike, age 85, of West Jefferson died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. Roger Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00-2:00 pm two hours prior to the funeral. Mrs. Stike was born in Ashe County on Saturday, May 19, 1923 to the late Raleigh Spurgeon Stevens and Holly Octavia Greer. She was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. She was a Homemaker. She is survived by a son, Meredith G. Stike of West Jefferson; two daughters, Nancy S. Houck and husband, Daniel, of West Jefferson and Dinah S. Gourley and husband, George, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Wade Stevens and wife, Imogene, of West Jefferson, Rhonda Stevens, wife, Edith, of West Jefferson and Scott Stevens and wife, Glenda, of West Jefferson; four sisters, Doris Nichols of Bluff City, Tennessee, Sammy Church and husband, Alton, of Efland, NC, Jean Houck of West Jefferson and Dicia Houck of West Jefferson; a stepson, Glenn Stike Jr., of Bellsprings, VA; Special Caregiver, Pam Hall; five step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
