Mrs. Thelma Jean Baker Hurley age 81, of Crumpler, passed away Monday morning, December 1, 2008 at her residence. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2:00pm at Healing Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Pugh officiating. Mrs. Hurley was born in Ashe County on March 14, 1927 to the late Alvis Baker and Wanda Cox Baker. She is survived by a son, Bob Baker and wife Vanya, of Wilkesboro; two step daughters, Janet Blevins and husband, David, of Crumpler and Joan Howell of Crumpler; a step son, Billy Lee Hurley and wife, Josephine of Jefferson; a special grandson, Joe Blevins of Crumpler; two grandsons; eight step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
