Mrs. Ruth Jones Pugh, age 87, of Jefferson passed away Monday morning, August 22, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Goss, Rev. Jack Pugh, and Rev Reeves Jones officiating. Burial will follow in New River Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Pugh was born Tuesday, October 30, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Oscar and Violenie Sawyer Jones. She worked in textile industries and in a daycare. She was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and love to cook for others. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Sue Pugh; two sisters, Georgie Miller and Rena Ward; a brother, John Jones. Mrs. Pugh is survived by her husband, Lida Pugh of Jefferson; a son, Lloyd Pugh and wife, Karyn, of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Betty Lou Houck and husband, Donnie, of Jefferson; two brothers, Rev. Reeves Jones and wife, Margaret, of Laurel Springs and James R. Jones and wife, Louise, of Piney Creek; three grandchildren; Geneva Absher, Derik Bauguess, and Evelyn Pugh; three great-grandchildren; Amanda Absher, Tucker Bauguess, and Emily Bauguess; two great, great-grandchildren; Mari Jane Church and Hunter Church; two step grandchildren; Melissa Bedford and Michelle Hamm; three step great-grandchildren; Drake Bedford, Ashtyn Bedford, and Montana Hamm; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers are accepted.
