Mr. Archie Lee Hamm, age 64, of Creston, passed away Sunday night, October 30, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00pm at Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamm-Phillips Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Hamm was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, April 16, 1947 to the late John Henry and Louise Osborne Hamm. He was the owner and operated of Hamm's Septic Tank Sales. The most important thing to Archie was his love for God and his family. Archie was also preceded in death by a son, Jamie Lee Hamm. He survived by his wife, Janet Carter Hamm, of 47 years of marriage; two sons, Johnny Hamm and wife, Melanie, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland and Joey Hamm, of Creston; four daughters, Donna Ellenburg and husband, Curtis, of Wylie, Texas, Beverly Black and husband, Randy, of Jefferson, Melinda Poe and husband Craig, of Lansing and Ivory Bare and husband, Marty, of Jefferson; three sisters, Diane Horner and husband, Jim, of Texas, Betty Hamm, of Texas and Kathy Wyatt and husband, Gale, of Texas; twelve grandchildren Blake Ellenburg, Jesse Ball, Jerred Ellenburg, Hunter Ellenburg, Cole Ball, Alex Bare, McKenzie Black, Shay Hamm, Savannah Hamm, Austin Poe, Cody Hamm and Tanner Poe; two great-grandchildren Braelyn Ellenburg and Kenton Ball; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted.
