Mrs. Mabel Tucker Miller, age 71, of West Jefferson, died Thursday morning, December 1, 2011 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00pm on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, May 1, 1940 to the late Rev. Frank Tucker and Edith Roland Tucker. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jody Shatley; one brother, James Taylor; and one sister, Betty Jones. She is survived by her husband, Steve Miller; one son, Keith Shatley and wife Mona of Mountain City, TN; two step-sons, Eric Miller and wife Angie of Butler, TN; and Aaron Miller of Maiden, NC; one daughter, Debra Shatley of Mountain City, TN, one step-daughter; Renea Canipe and husband Dwayne of Maiden, NC, two brothers; Larry Tucker and wife Kathy of Danville, VA, and Max Tucker of Gambrills, MD; two sisters, Nancy McNeill and husband Butch of West Jefferson, and Patsy Troell and husband Ed of Fairfax, VA; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
