Mrs. Shirley Louise Roupe, age 73, of Jefferson, died Monday evening, December 19, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00am at Big Flatts Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Flatts Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00-11:00, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Roupe was born in Ashe County on November 5, 1938 to the late Fred Oscar and Carrie Moretz Trivette. She was a member and the church treasurer of Big Flatts Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir and took care of the flowers at the church. She is survived by two sons, James Roupe of Maryland, and Randy Roupe and wife Kathy of Maryland; three brothers; Gwyn Trivettte and wife Elsie of West Jefferson, Wayne Trivette and wife Diane of Lenoir, and James Trivette and wife Linda of West Jefferson; three sisters; Ina Bare of Fleetwood, Lavon Caudill of South Carolina, and Doris Dillard and husband Cliff of Jefferson; One grandson; Ryan Roupe; several nieces and nephews also survive.
