Obituary of George "Hap" Lauer Beswick
George "Hap" Lauer Beswick Jr., age 75, of Crumpler, NC died Thursday, December 29, 2011 after suffering a stroke on Christmas morning.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 thoughout the day at the Home of Tammy and Gary McCullars, 337 Mulatto Mountain Road in West Jefferson.
Hap was born to the late George Sr. and Janice Veltman on December 9, 1936 in Camden, NJ.
Hap married his wife Sandra Slusher in 1956. Hap and Sandra lived most of their lives in Miami, Florida but also in Westmont, New Jersey and Freeport, Florida before moving to Crumpler in 2005.
He served 9 years in the Navy and Navy Reserves touring the Mediterranean on the USS Lake Champlain.
Hap is survived by his wife Sandra Slusher Beswick of Crumpler; two sons, George III and his wife Lori of Fleetwood, William Beswick and his wife Odalis of Nashville, Tennessee; two daughters, Tammy McCullars and her husband Gary of West Jefferson, Karin Doudna and her husband Mark Jr. of West Jefferson; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Beswick, Ron Snyder and his wife Rebecca, Chrissi Snyder, George Beswick IV, Mark Doudna III, Benjamin Doudna, Paul Doudna, Billy Beswick, Belynda Beswick; six great-grandchildren, Austin Marenco, Brandon Marenco, Dylan Doudna, Devon Snyder, Riley Schiavo Snyder, Aden Snyder.
He is also survived by three brothers, Thomas Beswick of Kissimmee, Florida, Charles Beswick of Gloucester, New Jersey, and Rodger Beswick of Jackson, Mississippi
Hap is loved his "other children" his dogs he has had over the years,
