Mrs. Shirley Cox Cooper, age 86, of Fleetwood died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation of Boone. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lawn Cemetery in Boone. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 12-1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Cooper was born April 22, 1925 in Crumpler, North Carolina to Albert Lee Cox, Sr. and Della Phipps Cox. She was a graduate of Healing Springs High School and a member of Blackburn's Chapel Methodist Church where she was a pianist for twenty-seven years. She was married to I.S. "Buck" Cooper on December 26, 1946. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents and a brother; Albert Lee (Blaine) Cox, Jr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons; Ronnie Cooper and wife Linda of Fleetwood, and Donnie Cooper and wife Dee Dee of Moravian Falls; one granddaughter, Deena Cooper Sammon and husband Dustin; one great-granddaughter Peyton Sammons all of Jacksonville, NC; one sister, Willie Lou Denny and husband Gerald of Jefferson; one niece Nancy Cox Bowers and husband Charlie; one nephew, Kevin C. Denny and wife Kim of Jefferson. The family request no food and flowers!
