Mr. Allen Kay Taylor, age 82, of West Jefferson passed away Saturday, April 15, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Burchett and Rev. Mark Harless officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendly Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Tuesday at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Taylor was born in Ashe County on Saturday, July 27, 1929 to the late Edward Foster Taylor and Carrie Lee Hardin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Wyatt Taylor; two half-brothers; Russell Taylor and Glen Taylor; and two half-sisters; Ruth Hardin and Lozelle Hardin. Mr. Taylor is survived by one son; Steve Taylor and wife Tammy of West Jefferson; one daughter; Elizabeth "Libby" Matthews and husband Kenneth of Fayetteville; two brothers; Mack Taylor and wife Jean of West Jefferson, and Ron Taylor and wife Angie of West Jefferson; one sister, Collene Weaver of West Jefferson; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
