Mrs. Mary Huffman Viers, age 71, of Laurel Springs, passed away Monday morning, April 23, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Blevins, Rev. Lonnie Pruitt and Rev. David Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bare Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Viers was born in Ashe County on June 23, 1940 to the late Lamar Sheets and Marie Huffman. She worked at a couple of different textile companies, Jefferson Apparel and Hanes. She also worked a Greenfield Restaurant. She enjoyed working in her flowers. She attended church at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, of 54 years of marriage, Ray Viers; three sons, Johnny Viers and wife, Debbie, of Laurel Springs, David Viers and wife, Linda, of Columbus, NC and Michael Viers and wife, Diane, of West Jefferson; three daughters, Debbie Cozart and husband, Donny, of Crumpler, Sandra Hamm and husband, Tim, of Lansing and Jennifer Calhoun and husband, Freddie, of Crumpler; a brother, Clarence Hitchcock, of Havre de Grace, MD; three sisters, Shelby Graham, of Rising Sun, MD, Betty Parsons, of Statesville, NC and Shirley Workman, of Havre de Grace, MD; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
