Mr. Alvin Harley Denny, Jr., age 86, of Lansing passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Denny was born in Ashe County on June 12, 1925 to the late Alvin Denny, Sr. and Mary Denny. He was a Charter member of Lansing Fire Department, Member of American Legion, and VFW. He also served in the Arm Forces during WWII. He is preceded in death by a brother; Wayne Denny. He is survived by a special friend; Betty West; one brother; Dale Denny and wife Poodle of High Point; two sisters; Doris Glass and husband Herman of Johnson City, TN, and Nell Shepherd and husband Leroy of Darlington, MD.
