Darlene Miller Severt, age 62, of West Jefferson died Saturday morning, May 19, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Miller and Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Severt was born in Watauga County on Monday, September 5, 1949 to the late Joseph Allen and Opal Rhymer Miller. She was a member of North Beaver Baptist Church. She worked in sewing textile most of her life but recently she worked as a cook at the Ashe County Jail. She was a kind person always putting other people before herself. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all! She is survived by her husband, of 42 years of marriage, Russell G. Severt, of West Jefferson; a son, Rusty Severt and wife, Debbie, of Jefferson; a daughter, Amy Gregory and husband, David, of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Boyd Miller, of Deep Gap and Barry Miller, of Davenport, VA; two grandchildren, Dylan R. Severt, of Jefferson and Peyton Gregory, of North Wilkesboro; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests no food please!
