Mrs. Erika Wudi Burgess, age 71, of West Jefferson, passed away Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012 at Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Lea and Rev. Ken Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Calloway Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 12-2pm at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Burgess was born in Deggendorf, Germany to the late Georg Wudi and Maria Schmid. She was the Co-Owner of Burgess Furniture, and also a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Robert Burgess; two sons; Jerry Burgess of Sherrills Ford and Eric Burgess of Charlotte; one brother; Hugo Wudi of Germany; two sisters; Maria Stadler and Irma Knieling both of Germany; three grandchildren; Emily Burgess, Savannah Burgess, and Tyler Burgess; and several nieces and nephew also survive.
