Mr. Gary Steve Powers, age 63, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Francis officiating. Burial will follow in the Powers Family Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Sunday, June 17, 2012, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Powers was born in Hartford Maryland on March 5, 1949 to the late Warren Powers and Mrs. Edna Elliott Couden. He is survived by, two sons; Quinn Powers of Wilkesboro and Chris Wilcox of Bristol VA; two daughters; Edna Beth Powers of Grassy Creek and Amy Miller of Millers Creek; Mother; Edna Couden of West Jefferson; three brothers; Larry Powers of Laurel Springs, Jerry Powers of Jefferson, and Ray Powers of West Jefferson; one sister; Debra Halloway of Delaware; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the homeplace of Edna Couden, 1776 Sexton Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
