Wayne A. Peterson, age 86, of Todd died Thursday evening at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone. A memorial service will be held later this summer. Mr. Peterson was born in Roseboro, NC on August 11, 1925 to the late Sibyl Spruill and Colin Hampton Peterson. He was a member of Blackburn's Chapel Church of Todd affiliated with Boone United Methodist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. He earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from NC State University in Raleigh, NC. He was an Electrical Engineer for General Electric, Plant Manager for Cornell Dubilier Electronics, and CEO of Superior Electric from which he retired in 1987. He has lived in Todd for the past 20 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Peterson is preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Howard and Lelia Prevette; four brothers, Dewitt Peterson, Hampton Peterson, Thackery Peterson, and Leonard Peterson. Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Venita Peterson of Todd, NC; two sons, David Peterson and wife Martha of Mattapoisett ,MA, Mahlon Peterson and wife Amelia of Naugatuck, CT; two daughters, Barbara P.
