Obituary of Virginia Mae Wagoner

Mrs. Virginia Mae Miller Wagoner, age 84, of Jefferson passed away on Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Morris, Rev. Michael Lea and Dr. Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Wagoner was born in Wilkes County on Sunday, October 21, 1923 to the late Thurmond Greene Miller and Mabel Nichols Miller. She worked for twelve years as a Co-owner of the Rancho Drive-In. Later she retired from Ashe Memorial Hospital where she worked as a receptionist. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson. She was a vivid reader and deeply loved to work in her flower garden. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Hoke A. Wagoner, of the home; a son, Terry Williams and wife, Debbie, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Dr. C.E. Miller and wife, Melba of West Jefferson, T.G. Miller and wife, Sally, of Raleigh, NC and Dr. Calvin Miller and wife, Katrina, of Jefferson; three sisters, Louise Hinshaw and husband, Al, of Huntsville, AL, Anna Dean Harless and husband, Bill, of Quinton, VA and Sherry Francis and husband, Joe, of King George, VA; three grandchildren, Trathan Williams, of West Jefferson, Autumn Williams, of Chapel Hill and Brady Williams, of West Jefferson; three step grandchildren, Stacey Laney, Ashley Bowers, of Crumpler and Kindell Wagoner; three step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
