Mr. Edison Glen Harless, age 77, of Lansing, died Tuesday morning, December 23, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 2008 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Julian Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendly Grove Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Friday two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Harless was born in Ashe County on Saturday, October 24, 1931 to the late Ballard Neff Harless and Lena Daisy Campbell Harless. He was a department leader at Sprague Electrical Mfg. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Anderson Harless; two daughters, Rebecca Ashley and husband, Greg, of Greensboro and Carol Elliott and husband, Keith, of West Jefferson; four brothers, Garrel Harless, Tommy Harless, Larry Harless and Jerry Harless, all of West Jefferson; three sisters, Ruth Weaver and Tharon Bare, both of West Jefferson and Mary Jay, of Bluff City, TN; a grandson, Chris Ashley and wife, Anne Marie, of Cornelius, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tuckerdale Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Jean Key, PO Box 93, Lansing, NC 28643.
