Mrs. Vennie Owens Perry, age 93, of Creston passed away Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at Glenbridge Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. Evin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Perry was born in Ashe County on May 10, 1919 to the late Frelin and Ollie Pennington Owens. She worked as a packer at Kingsport Press for 29 years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Perry. Mrs. Perry is survived by a brother, James Owens and wife, Joann, of Creston; five sisters, Josie Odom and husband, Lonnie, of Kingsport TN, Mary Osborne and husband, Dale, of Creston, Ruth Osborne and husband, Earnest, of Creston, Louella Weaver and husband, Conley, of Mountain City TN and Ann Owens, of Mountain City TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
