Mr. Hershel Elbert Kerr, Jr., age 68, of Jefferson died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Casey and Rev. Harry Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Powers Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Kerr was born in Booneville, Arkansas on November 21, 1943 to the late Hershel Kerr, Sr. and Joella Roberts. He served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Betty Miller Kerr, of the home; four sons; Fred Greer and wife Kelly of Ohio, Darwin Kerr and wife Lynn of Supply, NC, Mark Kerr of Sanford, and Ronnie Barwick and wife Judy of Florida; four daughters; Sheila Blevins and husband Tim of West Jefferson, Anna Stockdale and husband Don of Fayetteville, Tina Anderson of Florida, and Cheryl Barwick of Florida; one brother; Dale Kerr and wife Joanne of Fleetwood; three sisters; Bonnie Bundy and husband Terry of Red Springs, NC, Louella Baker of Fayetteville, and Sandy Anders and husband Pete of Washington; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
