Mrs. Gladys Eldreth Welch, age 92, of Lansing passed away Sunday evening, January 13, 2013 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 2:00pm at Long Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Lewis and Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldreth Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Mrs. Welch was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, September 14, 1920 to the late Avery and Effie Woods Eldreth. She retired from Sprague Electric. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by two sons; three brothers, Glenn Eldreth, Jones Eldreth and Smith (Hoover) Eldreth. Mrs. Welch is survived by a sister, Jean Osborne, of Lansing; several nieces and nephews also survive.
