Mrs. Lettie Howell Gentry, age 79, of Jefferson passed away Sunday morning, March 31, 2013 at her home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Phil Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Wednesday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Gentry was born in Ashe County on Sunday, April 9, 1933 to the late Coy Franklin and Mamie Campbell Howell. She was a member of Smethport Baptist Church. Lettie was known for her good cooking and keeping a clean house. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Houck, Mable Mabe and Iva Lee Holman; a brother, Dave Houck. Mrs. Gentry is survived by: her husband, Tobe Gentry, of 62 years of marriage; a daughter, Teresa Woodie and husband, Bob, of Jefferson; a son, Mark Gentry and wife, Pam, of Cotopaxi, Colorado; two brothers, Jack Howell, of Kernersville and Henry Howell and wife, Shirley, of King; three sisters, Faye Caudill, of West Jefferson, Esta Goodman and husband, Willard, of Boone and Lois Baldwin and husband, Darrell, of West Jefferson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
