Mr. Scott Dewayne Stevens, age 69, of West Jefferson, passed away Monday morning, May 20, 2013 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Stevens was born in Ashe County on Monday, January 10, 1944 to the late Raleigh Spurgeon and Holly Octavia Greer Stevens. He retired from W. J. Hardware after 47 years. Scott enjoyed farming and was an outdoorsman. He was the President of New River Archery Club for 10 years. He was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist church. Scott was on several bowling leagues but the most recent was Radio Hill Sales. But one of the most important things was being a grandfather. Trevor was the apple of his eye. He was also a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by all. Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, Glenda Dickson Stevens; two daughters, Lisa Jones and husband, Terry, of West Jefferson and Shannon Shatley, of Jefferson; two brothers, Rhonda Stevens, of West Jefferson and Wade Stevens, of Jefferson; four sisters, Doris Nichols, of Bluff City TN, Jean Houck, of West Jefferson, Dicia Houck, of West Jefferson and Sammie Church, of Efland, NC; a grandson, Trevor Shatley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
