Mrs. Carola Howell Neaves, age 91, of Lansing passed away Monday afternoon, May 27, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00am at Greene's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Eldreth & Rev. Fred Steelman officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6:30- 8:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Neaves was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, August 24, 1921 to the late Booker T. Washington and Retha Hurley Howell. She retired from Sprague Electric after 28 years of service. She was a member of Greene's Chapel Baptist Church for 80 years. She enjoyed singing in church. In her spare time she loved to cook and crochet. She was a loving mother and grandmother; and will be missed by all! She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harrison Neaves. Mrs. Neaves is survived by: two sons, Larry Neaves and wife, Judy, of Jefferson and Bob Neaves and wife, Judy, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Nancy Ray and husband, Arthur, of Fleetwood ; two grandchildren, David Neaves and wife, Melissa and Kelli Neaves; three great-grandchildren, Megan Neaves, Justin Neaves and Sommer Neaves; several nieces and nephews also survive.
