Edith "Carolyn" Parsons Charles was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Carolyn received her bachelor of science degree in education from Appalachian State College She was a retired school teacher from The Broward County Schools in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Carolyn was an active member of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale serving as a childrens Sunday School teacher for over thirty years as well as volunteering on many other church committees. Upon retirement, Carolyn moved to Ashe County, North Carolina where she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Council on Aging. She was an active member of Blue Ridge Baptist serving in many areas including Sunday School Director and teacher. Carolyn is survived by John Charles Ed Charles (Lorinda), Greg Charles (Terry) and John Charles Jr. (Gina) as well as loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Francis officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
