Obituary of Violet Leona East
Violet Leona Richert East, 90, of Fleetwood, N.C., went home to be with Jesus on July 3, 2013
at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson, NC.
Born in Dorothy, NJ.,October 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Andrew E. Richert and
Frances Tepel Richert.
Mrs. East was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Jefferson, NC. She was a true
inspiration to her family and friends. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and lived to
serve her Lord and Savior. Throughout the years she was a Sunday School teacher, a leader in
the Women's Ministry, a Board Member of Evangelical Bible Missions to the Philippines and
volunteered hundreds of hours at Baptist Hospital of Miami, FL (where she resided prior to
Fleetwood, NC).
Mrs. East was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. East of 66 years, brothers Charles
Richert and Frank Richert; and sisters Lillian Jordan and Flo Allen.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Sharon East of Blue Ridge, GA;
daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Timothy Thompson of Fleetwood; sisters Beatrice
Davidson of Humble Texas; Mildred Pleis of Vineland, NJ; Ethel Josephsen of Pennsville, NJ;
Edith Winsinger of West Palm Beach, FL and brother and sister-in-law George and Chrisanna
Richert of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren David East, Kimberly Weaver and husband Jeff,
Amy Holt and husband Brannon, Zachary Thompson, and Kaessey Thompson; great-
grandchildren Erica East, Megan Lovell, Skylar Ramey and Olivia Weaver; and many nieces
and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 10 - 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Funeral services will follow
at 11:00 a.m. at the Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Keith Styron officiating.
Burial followed in the Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery.
